Today the Philip Pelusi Salon & Color Group is comprised of 10

high-end salons and a 6000 square foot training center known as the Philip Pelusi Center for Talent Development, all located in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. We currently perform 90,000 color services and create 140,000 Guest visits per year in our salons. Philip has developed 100’s of successful Designers over his 56 Years in business and continues to be a Trend Setter in the Beauty Industry by raising the standards of our chosen profession. Our Philip Pelusi Center for Talent Development host over 120 events per year and our Designers receive training in all areas of our industry throughout their careers. This includes “Volumetric Haircutting – The Pelusi Method” that allows our Artistic Elite Designers to command $100+ for a haircut service.



Timeline:
  • 1965 Philip began building his salon empire by opening his first salon at age 20
  • 1966 Philip’s Salon combines his love of hair, art, and fashion in his salon setting by retailing cutting edge cosmetics and couture fashions, later to be recognized by WWD as the first salon ever to combine hair with fashion in the USA.
  • 1968 Trademarked the industry catchphrase: “A Cut Above The Rest”
  • 1972 Philip developed and introduced the Volumetric Haircutting system.
  • 1984 Philip honored as “Top Designer of the World” by Lo Zeffiro
  • 1985 Philip selected winner of the “Hairstylist of the Year Award” by the Hairstylist
  • 1994 Opened SPACE, state of the art 6000 sq. ft. education center and photo studio
  • 1995 Philip awarded as “World Master” by Art and Fashion Group International
  • 1997 Philip launches his P2 by Philip Pelusi Professional product line
  • 1999 Philip awarded “Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Ernst and Young
  • 2005 Style Magazine declared Philip as one of the “Top 5 Haircutters” in the USA
  • 2006 Developed Tela Beauty Organics Priority blend of Organic Herbs and Super fruit blend of ingredients as the foundation for all Tela formulas
  • 2007 Philip Pelusi selected by top Fashion Designers as their go to hair team for Mercedes Benz NYC Fashion Week
  • 2008 Philip celebrates opening of Tela Design Studio in NYC and quickly becomes an artist of choice at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Events
  • 2008 Philip launches the Tela Beauty Organics, the first USDA Certified Organic Hair Care Line
  • 2009 Launches Tela Beauty Organics into top Beauty Departments and Beauty Boutiques, Select Salons and Spas across the Country such as NeimanMarcus, Barneys, and Nordstrom’s.
  • 2011 Philip inducted into the Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame
  • 2012 Philip launches Organic Texture Management Services and Products
  • 2013 Revolutionary Tela Color Lock is introduced
  • 2016 Philip launches new salon design for Philip Pelusi Salon and Color Group Concept
  • 2016 Philip Pelusi Salon and Color Group Is Born With a New look and Design Emphasis on Creative Haircolor
  • 2017 Jennifer Pelusi Becomes a Partner as well as VP of Branding, Concept, and Marketing of Tela Beauty Organics with the Launch of the 1st ever Probiotic Hair and Scalp Care Line using Proprietary Pre and Probiotic ingredients.
  • 2018 Tela Beauty Organics launches “Modern Hair Wear Collection” of Styling Elixers designed for Todays Modern Look and Feel for Hair.
  • 2018 Philip launches Beauty On Demand @ Philip Pelusi On Site Service Team
  • 2020 Tela Beauty Organics launches a new and innovative concept product “ MAGIC” for Every Hair Texture. It is a leave in Bond Building and Multidimensional Styling Product, that literally transforms the look and feel of hair!
  • 2020/2021 Saw the Expansion and remodel of our Cranberry, Block, and Siena Philip Pelusi Salon and Color Group locations.
  • 2021 Philip Pelusi launches their Philip Pelusi Career Coaching for it’s New and Existing Designers to enhance their career success and reach new levels of earnings
  • 2021 Philip Pelusi launches “Artistic Elite” Designer Program helping designers move into a new stage of their careers and earning potential.
  • 2022 Philip Pelusi launches the “Elite Colorist” program allowing designers to promote and build their creative color following.
  • 2022 saw the expansion of organization with the new location at Blue Spruce in Murrysville
  • 2022 Philip Pelusi lunches the “Trend Group” at Philip Pelusi taking salon education to new levels for designers in Pittsburgh
